How to Unlock password protected memory card

Sometimes it happens when you choose a typical password for your phone’s memory card and forget it later and get frustrated when you don’t recall it. If you have password protected your memory card in your Nokia Symbian Phone, then there is one trick to crack it. I don’t know if it works on other cellphones also.
Unlock password protected memory card

(You need an application for your phone like X-plore/Fexplorer/Fileman/Explorer)
You can get these apps here
  • Download one of these app and install it.
  • Configure it properly in its settings so that all hidden files and system files and folders are visible.
  • Navigate to C: drive of your phone. There will be one folder named System. Open it and there at the end there will be a file named mmcstore.

  • Rename this file mmcstore to mmcstore.txt.
  • You’ll find your password in this file. It will be little bit encoded but can be understood on seeing it.
  • For example, If your password is flopsite, so in the mmcstore.txt file, it will appear as f?l?o?p?s?i?t?e.
  • Just remove the question marks and you’ll get your lost password :-)
Note : The above trick is applicable only for Nokia Series 60 Version 1 and Version 2 phones only.

However, if you have A Nokia Series 60 version 3 phone or E-series phones, the hope still holds for some of the Series 60 Version 3 phones and almost all of the E-series phones ! There is a way out to get your password. Follow the steps below :~
  • There is something like Remote Lock option in E-series phones. This Option can be found in Tools –> Settings –> Phone and Sim –> Allow Remote Lock Menu . The password of your Remote Lock will be your Remote Lock Message.
  • So you have to just send a sms containing your remote lock message that will automatically change your memory card password.
Note: If neither of these tricks are applicable for your phone, the only way left is to format your memory card :-(
